Meet the Board of Trustees

Trustee Patricia Gross

632 W. Broad St.
Horseheads, NY 14845

Send email to Trustee Gross - pgross@horseheads.org

I am a lifelong resident of the Village of Horseheads. I graduated from Horseheads High and then attended Nazareth College earning a BS in Nursing. I married my husband Carl, also a lifetime resident of Horseheads, and a teacher of physical education in Horseheads. We have three grown children. Carl currently lives in Corpus Christi Texas, Vickie lives in Horseheads and Dan who lives in Hamburg, NY. We are blessed with six grandchildren who we take great delight in.

I worked for six years in the Horseheads School District as a School Nurse Teacher, and 27 years at the Chemung County Health Department. I worked as a staff nurse, as a health educator in the community, a supervisor and retired as the assistant Director of Patient Services. I was fortunate to enjoy every year of my work experience.

I have always enjoyed volunteering in our community. As a room mother at Broad Street School, on Project Graduation, ran the concession stand for Cinderella for three years, Horseheads Woman’s Club (President), Chemung County Council of Women, Friends of Horseheads Library Board, volunteer at Horseheads Historical Society Depot, the Horseheads Food Pantry, Horseheads Alumni Association, and the Horseheads Petal Pushers – an organization that has been very instrumental in planting flowers in our Village, and at the Zim House. Along the way I have enjoyed meeting many talented people who also love Horseheads.

In 1990 the house was empty of children and with a little encouragement I ran for the Village Board where I served as Trustee from 1990–1993, and as Village Mayor from 1993–2007. This experience taught me so much about the Horseheads, Village and Town and Chemung County governments in general.

I look forward to serving the residents of this Village and will work very hard to rebuild the trust of its people. Thanks for the opportunity everyone.

Mike was sworn into office on December 3rd, 2012 after being elected by the Horseheads Village residents, and re-elected for another term on November 8, 2016. Mike and his family moved to the Village of Horseheads in 2005 and has been a resident in Chemung County since 1991. He graduated from Corning Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Mike began his law enforcement career with the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office in 1998 and is currently employed as a Deputy Sheriff. Mike married his wife, Jodi, in 2001 and they have three beautiful children who all participate in local community sports and school activities in the Village of Horseheads.

Mike has participated in his daughter’s Horseheads Softball League, coached his son’s Horseheads small fry football team, been a facilitator for Financial Peace University, is former chairperson for the McGruff “Take a Bite Out of Crime Program”, and enjoys participating in church activities.

Mike took an interest in the Village Board of Trustees to help maintain the old fashioned American small town neighborhood environment and to ensure the quality of life for the generations to come. “I would like to lead by example and encourage my generation to be more involved in their community by serving others.”

Trustee Cronin was appointed on February 21, 2019 to fill the vacancy on the Board.

I have been a resident of the Village of Horseheads for over 30 years. I graduated from Horseheads High class of 1989 and Corning Community College in 1993. My wife, Tammi and I have a young daughter attending the Horseheads Intermediate School. I am currently Co-Owner and President of the Showboat Motel, Restaurant & Bar on Seneca Lake. I have been a basketball referee for over 25 years and current President of the local area Boys & Girls Association of Basketball Referees. I have had the opportunity to work in a number of different industries including, business consulting, payroll processing, hospitality management and furniture sales. Prior to these roles, I had the privilege of working for both the Town & Village of Horseheads Recreation Departments for almost 9 years.

Growing up my family was always involved in youth sports, instilling a strong sense of community that I have not forgotten. In my short time as a Trustee, I have had a chance to speak with my fellow Trustees, several department heads and a few of our residents. For those of you that I have just met for the first time, it was a pleasure. Whether I will be working with you or serving the community I look forward to challenges and successes that follow in order to ensure our tradition is continued.

I appreciate all of the encouragement and how welcoming everyone has been. It is an honor and privilege to serve the Village of Horseheads and will be for years to come.
